Application for a licence to keep a pet shop under Pet Animals Act 1951
This service lets you submit a form and its related documentation online.
These licences are required in order to regulate the sale of pet animals, under the Pet Animals Act 1951. Once issued, licences have a number of conditions attached to them covering issues such as; accommodation in which animals are kept, the adequacy of food and drink, control measures to eliminate the spread of disease, fire precautions and the age at which animals can be sold.
Eastbourne Borough Council has a working relationship with the RSPCA and shares information on complaints. You will have to register or log in to apply online. Where the form asks for signatures, you may either use an electronic signature if you have one, or if not, leave these sections of the form blank.
The authority will charge a fee of £ 95.00 that you will pay online to process your application. The fee is the same whether you apply online or by post (businesslink.gov.uk or UK Welcomes do not charge an additional fee for online applications).
