Application for a licence to operate an animal boarding establishment under Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963

These licences are required to ensure proper care and treatment of animals, under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963. An Animal Boarding Establishment is a business or a private dwelling, where accommodation is provided for other peoples' animals. The licence requires certain conditions need to be met in relation to the size of accommodation, feeding times, registration of animals on premises and emergency procedures.

A licence is issued following a satisfactory inspection by the council's Licensing Officer and, if necessary, a Veterinary Surgeon. You will have to register or log in to apply online. Where the form asks for signatures, you may either use an electronic signature if you have one, or if not, leave these sections of the form blank.

The authority will charge a fee of £ 95.00 that you will pay online to process your application. The fee is the same whether you apply online or by post (businesslink.gov.uk or UK Welcomes do not charge an additional fee for online applications).
